In a family that is shrinking and a world that is growing bigger, three precocious children attempt to carve out a unique space for themselves and the memory of their parents.

Combining finely detailed character work with images of stunning visual beauty, the play revolves around the fictional lives of Freya (7 ¾), Finley and Sophia Brackenberg (10; twins). These three creative and richly-founded characters will lead you through their magical world, with over-stuffed suitcases and imagination providing all they need.

An explosion of fast-paced, visual storytelling following the Brackenberg siblings and their attempts to make sense of the world through cake puppetry, romantic slide shows, and ingenious bulb experiments, all backed by their parents' vintage record collection.

(Don't forget to veiw Freya's slideshow at the bottom of our main page for important instructions on how to grow the crocosmia plant)

Extraordinary Ordinary

In an office bustling with “things to do” how could you possibly find yourself alone and folding paper into flightless birds? However this is exactly what Martin does – losing himself in a world of origami animals and plastic-packaged sushi meals-for-one. Ruth on the other hand rarely has a moment to herself, constantly making small-talk with foreign businessmen that she seldom sees twice.

Extraordinary Ordinary is a celebration of everything hum drum: a stark cubicle-world carved out of paper, stationary and the outpourings of their endearingly awkward minds. Told through a mixture of farcical choreography and touching imagery, Little Bulb Theatre presents a bittersweet comedy of two characters exploring the loneliness of modern-day city living and the extraordinary, sometimes heartbreakingly ordinary, ways of surviving it.

Being made redundant is never easy, especially in a time of financial crises, political apathy and (literal) global meltdown! Yet amidst this sorry state of affairs two unassuming candidates find themselves the unlikely heroes of a revolution. A really important revolution! But they can’t do it alone. Introducing…

‘A Passionate Presentation in two Parts’ !
inspired by a certain "audacity of hope" and the helping hand of a stranger, you could find yourself just a hairs breadth away from serious and lasting change. H.E.L.P/H.O.P.E:

to see you there,

Ruth and Martin are back with their travelling roadshow of eccentric ways to combat the devastating complexities of modern life. Having been made redundent when Tadashi Corporation was forced to close down it's London branch Ruth and Martin have responded with a message of hope and an offer of help for these troubling economic times.
